It is well known that worrying about the future and having a negative expectancy about what the future holds is how we “do” anxiety.
Have you ever worried about some event and then when you get to it, it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be? And that you managed it very well?
It’s hard to be anxious about something in the moment.
Our search for certainty will lead us down the path of thinking that if we worry about something enough, it’ll be ok.
But it rarely is and just causes an enormous amount of suffering in the present moment.
Coupled with the mistaken thought that if we assume that the worst will happen then we won’t be let down and disappointed by life.
While it’s good to have contingencies incase something does go wrong, it can be extremely unhelpful to have a pessimistic view of the world where everything is going to go wrong.
It’s time to get comfortable with saying “I don’t know” and being ok with the fact that some elements of or future is unpredictable and of course some bad things may happen. But the majority will be neutral. And just as you have done so far, you can cope.
Imagine instead of thinking “what could go wrong” start thinking “what can go right”. Learn more on how to deal with Anxiety through Hypnosis by filling up the form below:
